There are two kinds of cracks that the concrete or asphalt layer suffer from and are either dormant or active. If you wish to look for a way for the concrete repair, then you should first understand what active and dormant cracks are.
Active cracks are the cracks that not only appear overtime, but will also deepen, expand and lengthen after few years.
Dormant cracks are the cracks that will not change their texture even after appearing for few years.

Concrete or asphalt, when mixed with the right volume of water, can offer excellent support to the foundation. Slight variation in the overall ratio in the mixture of concrete or asphalt for constructing foundation will usually result with damaging the structure of the mixture. Hence, even slight variation in the volume of water that is added to the asphalt or concrete mixture will cause the foundation to break or even crack over the years.
Foundations Constructed During the Winter Season
Foundations that are constructed during the cold climatic conditions will require extra time for complete curing. Most of the construction companies fail to understand this factor and will follow with their schedule of constructing the home as decided. Improper drying or even curing of the foundation commonly results with the appearance of cracks after few years of house completion.
Quick Drying Concrete or Asphalt
Most of the construction companies use quick drying asphalt or concrete for early completion of the building project. Even though the idea of using quick drying concrete reduces the actual time required for the overall construction of any home for the construction company, there are higher chances of the reason becoming the main cause for the appearance of cracks in the foundation after few years.
